All About the One Man BoatThe "one-man boat" means different things to different people. There are several types of one-man boats - from fiberglass, plastic, and the most popular right now, inflatable fabric over commercial grade vinyl. One man kayak's started the craze many years ago followed by the one-man canoe. One man boats were developed for comfort, ease of transport, and another way to hit your favorite fishing hole without having to worry about gas, hooking up a trailer, or the clean up afterwards. The one man boat is starting to become the fisherman and hunters favorite simply due to its lightweight, durability, and overall convenience. One man boats come in many sizes, colors, and shapes. The most popular to date is the pointed front and rear cylinder one man boats since they cut through the water easily. The snub-nose one man boats are more convenient since its overall length is shorter and is lighter in weight. Most one man boats have built-in oars, tackle box, and a carrying section for a cooler on the back - all of which makes it that much more convenient and easy to operate. Have you ever watched what goes on at the average boat launch ramp? I have seen as many as three to four people, up to their armpits in water, trying to push a boat off of their trailer. The thing is, the bigger boats have a lot more space but when it comes down to it, how much space do you really need while relaxing, fishing, hunting, or shooting the rapids with friends. Nowhere is it written that you must suffer in order to launch or recover your boat. Nowhere is it written that it takes two, three or four people to get the boat back on the trailer properly. With a one man boat, it is simple since you can usually load and unload by hand from the back of your truck or large SUV. ONE MAN BOAT vs. LARGER "Traditional" BOATS: Why a one-man boat? One man boats provide convenience, safety, comfort, and ease of navigation through tight spots. One of the most significant justifications for buying a one man boat?...PRICE! Most one man boats cost less than $500 and are powered by YOU (or a trolling motor). ONE MAN BOAT SAFETY: Regarding safety of most one man boats depends on the design and primary materials used for the one man boats. The longer (7' to 9') one man boats do not capsize easily and can handle up to 400 lbs!
